Yes you can, and this is potentially extremely powerful as it provides the opportunity to extend our integration with Plannr even further! Using Plannr's placeholders, you can pull in and automatically populate your reports with other data points that aren't currently covered by the integration.

How might this work?

Let's look at an example...

Within Plannr it is possible to include details of certain client-related Key Dates, including the client's 'Next Review Date'.

We do not have a concept of 'Next Review Date' in Genovo, as there is no regulatory requirement to include this information in a suitability or annual review report, and hence the field is not integrated.

However, you may still wish to confirm the date of the client's next review under the 'Reviews and ongoing service' sub section of the Important Information section every time you create a review report in Genovo; and rather than having to include the date manually it would be great if it could be automatically populated once the report is uploaded to Plannr - well that's exactly what placeholders allow you to achieve.

Plannr's placeholders

In the first instance you will need to identify and locate the placeholder for the data point you wish to pull from Plannr into Genovo. Plannr's placeholders cover an extensive range of client and plan data points, and you will find details of all available placeholders here. But going back to our example, I'm looking for the placeholder for 'Next Review Date' which in the instance of the primary client is ${ client-1:next_review_date }.

Genovo's Report Content Manager

So next we need to look at how to get this information into Genovo. Genovo's Report Content Manager allows you to customise the entire boilerplate content of your Genovo reports and report templates - from the covering letter and report title page to the various appendices of each Report Type.

When editing the boilerplate content of a Genovo report, you have two options:

  1. Create a custom version of a Genovo snippet; or
  2. Create a custom snippet.

In this example, I want to create a custom version of the Reviews & Ongoing Service snippet in the Important Information section.

So I click Create custom version of snippet....

...and a new window opens where I can then edit the content of the snippet and add the additional content and placeholder relating to the client's next review date.

Having added the content, I click Save. As a result, this additional custom content will now be automatically inserted into every review report created by myself or any other users within my Genovo account.

The report output in Plannr

However, the real magic is still to come! Now, when I upload the report to Plannr and open the report within the Document Builder, not only does my custom content show, but the placeholder has been automatically replaced with the equivalent field value in Plannr, in this instance the date of the client's next annual review.

Given there are hundreds of placeholders available for use in Plannr, hopefully this has further whetted your appetite for the 'art of the possible' when using a combination of Genovo's highly customisable and easy-to-use online report builder and Plannr's innovative Document Builder.
