A suitability report should always be personalised to the client, and assuming you do not wish to fall foul of the regulator or your compliance department, you should never rely on a bunch of standard statements that frequently remain unchanged to justify your recommendations. Hence why Genovo offers a whole heap of functionality designed to allow you to easily customise and personalise your reports.

However, there are clearly going to be instances when some of the reasons why you are recommending a particular provider or type of investment will frequently be the same for most clients, in most reports.

For example, every time you recommend a Stocks and Shares ISA you may find yourself always selecting the same core options in the Why Product Type step of the New Investment Recommendation section. And as such, wouldn’t it be great if you could set up your account so these options were automatically pre-selected? Well, you can!

How to preselect a selectable option

Go to Customisation > Advice options & reasons, select the 'Section' and the 'Step' containing the options you wish to configure to be preselected and simply check the corresponding Preselect checkbox.

By preselecting the options here, they will already be selected whenever you (or your users) visit the step thereby saving a bit of time as you won't have to select them each time you build a report.

It is also worth highlighting that even when an option is preselected you can still easily deselect in the step if it’s not relevant for a particular report.
